Dr. David Holdsworth

Research Areas

The development of innovative computer-aided techniques for “3D printing” in metal alloys, with the goal of producing patient-specific orthopedic surgical components.

Dr. Holdsworth is the Dr. Sandy Kirkley Chair in Musculoskeletal Research as well as a Professor in the Departments of Medical Biophysics and Surgery and a Scientist at the Robarts Research Institute. Dr. Holdsworth is internationally recognized for contributions to high-resolution 3D imaging. He leads a team of 20 investigators and holds funding from CIHR, NSERC, HSFO, and Ontario Research Fund. Dr. Holdsworth publishes extensively (45 publications in 5 years) and holds 3 international patents for medical devices. He has partnered with medical device manufacturers (General Electric) to develop innovative micro-imaging systems for research applications, and continues to lead in technology transfer. He has supervised 28 trainees at the graduate or postdoctoral levels.
