Dr. Grace Parraga pursued both her undergraduate and Masters degrees at Western University. After her Masters Degree in Biochemistry she travelled to Seattle, WA to complete her PhD at the University of Washington and then travelled farther abroad to complete a Post-Doctoral Fellowship with Biozentrum at the University of Basel in Switzerland. She has since returned to Western to fill the role of Associate Professor within the Department of Medical Biophysics and contribute to the Department of Oncology. She divides her time between these appointments and supervising students within the Graduate level of studies in Biomedical Engineering and Medical Imaging.

Her research interests include COPD, asthma, cystic fibrosis and lung cancer. In specific she has the goal of developing imaging measurements of vascular and respiratory disease using 3D ultrasound imaging, hyperpolarized noble gas magnetic resonance imaging and xray computed tomography. She has held many research grants over her time as a researcher including the NSERC Discovery Grant and the Canadian Institute of Health Research Operating Grant.
