Professor Ziebart's current research program uses exercise to reduce the risk of fractures and rehabilitate fractures in people with osteoporosis or who are at risk of developing osteoporosis. She is interested in identifying early signs of fragility fractures and implementing interventions to reduce the risk of the more debilitating fractures of the hip and spine. She plans to improve the quality and quantity of life in people living with osteoporosis. Additionally, she conducts research on falls prevention strategies for home and community safety, knowledge translation strategies to increase adherence to exercise and population studies for bone health. Sex and gender are cross-cutting themes in her research and have been a considerable focus of her training. Sex and gender are important factors in bone health, exercise behaviours and prognosis for osteoporosis outcomes.
