Jane Thornton

I am a Clinician Scientist specializing in health innovation, medical education and advocacy for physical activity in the prevention and treatment of chronic disease.

I have launched several initiatives to promote physical activity, including the Make Your Day Harder project with Dr. Mike Evans, the inaugural Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine (CASEM) Medicine Through Movement conference, and My Active Ingredient, an initiative to create and curate physical activity resources for patients with chronic conditions.

My international roles include serving as Medical and Scientific Expert for the International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s Active Well-being Initiative as well as Scientific Committee Member for the 2021 IOC World Conference on Prevention of Injury & Illness in Sport. I also serve as Deputy Editor for the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
