Assistant Professor

Dr. Hosein's research focuses on the development of customized and personalized medical devices using metal Additive Manufacturing (AM; commonly termed 3D printing), specifically exploring novel construct designs for maxillofacial and orthopaedic applications, and assessing feasibility of AM for dental device fabrication.

AM is a useful tool for medical device development due to the increased design freedom offered by the technology. As such, AM can produce complex geometries and functional features required for patient-specific devices. Additionally, due to its streamlined digital process (CAD model to print), AM allows for rapid design iteration. This facilitates the R&D stages of medical device development, thereby expediting comprehensive testing of devices intended for the clinical market.
