Membership criteria

Investigators can self-identify and register as institute members if they meet the membership criteria [PDF]. If you meet the criteria as listed above, please complete the membership registration form.  

Faculty members and clinician scientists are subcategorized into BJI Affiliate or BJI Scientist based on their level of engagement in the Institute.   

For the status of BJI Affiliate, members must meet all of the following criteria: 

• conduct MSK research; 
• complete a membership registration/profile update 
• create and update a research ID account/publons 
• participate in BJI activities. 

For the status of BJI Scientist, members must meet all of the BJI Affiliate criteria as well as at least two of the following criteria: 

• hold a seat on a BJI committee (standing or ad-hoc) 
• play an active role in a BJI activity (seminar, think tank, etc) 
• hold a primary team members position on a current BJI Think Tank, recent catalyst, innovation or strategic award 
• hold a primary team members position on a recent major grant submission led by BJI 
• participate in the innovation competition mentorship program, and/or 
• be a mentor in the CMHR program. 

Trainees can self-identify and register as institute members if they: 

• work under the supervision of a BJI faculty member,  
• are conducting research relevant to bone and joint/musculoskeletal health, and 
• meet the trainee expectations outlined in the membership criteria [PDF]

Staff can self-identify and register as institute members if they: 

• work under the supervision of a BJI faculty member 
• are conducting research relevant to bone and joint/musculoskeletal health 
• meet the staff expectations outlined in the membership criteria [PDF]
