MSK Microbiome Network
Mapping the microbiome to reshape the future of arthritis care.
The gut microbiome, the trillions of bacteria and other microorganisms that live in our digestive system, plays an important role in our health, including how our immune system functions. Although research has uncovered important links between the gut microbiome and rheumatoid arthritis, many questions remain, and current knowledge is not always communicated to patients in a clear and accessible way. Our Musculoskeletal Microbiome Network brings together researchers, healthcare providers, patients, and community partners to advance our understanding of how the gut microbiome influences rheumatoid arthritis and to help translate new discoveries into improved patient care. Through collaborative research, patient education, and knowledge sharing, we aim to accelerate research, empower patients, and improve the lives of people living with rheumatoid arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions.
